Redundant Array of Independent Disks (RAID) Data Recovery

Common RAID Storage Problems

Redundant Arrays of Independent Disks (RAID) can fail due to several different reasons. The hard drives often fail due to overheating, from poor ventilation, subsequently resulting in cooked hard drives (similar to NAS devices). The damage from overheating drives ranges from malfunctioning PCB’s right through to surface damage on the platters and everything in between.

Furthermore, the drives can suffer from head crashes, stiction (heads stuck to platters), motor seizure and firmware corruption. However, it is unusual for all the disks to fail within an array; nonetheless, it is common for more drives to fail when the array is being rebuilt, due to the extra load placed upon the disks.

Moreover, the RAID controllers can become problematic on their own, or together with the failing drives, making the entire unit unstable and unusable. RAID systems can easily become corrupted, as well as suffering physical malfunctions, often creating very challenging recovery cases. Excellent working knowledge of both RAID and file systems are essential for high chances of a successful recovery.

Best Advice We Can Give You at This Stage

About Us

Over the previous decade, we have invested heavily in our dedicated Data Recovery laboratory. Separate from our computer diagnostics and repair department, the laboratory is staffed by dedicated, experienced personnel, whose sole purpose is to recover your data. Utilising Ace Laboratories PC3000, DeepSpar Disk Imagers and a class 100 Cleanroom facility - alongside cutting edge tooling - we can offer our customers an affordable, Professional, Data Recovery service.

If you have a none-responsive or failed RAID device, we are suitably experienced and equipped to recover your data from it, whether it be RAID 0 (Striped drives), RAID 1 (Mirrored drives), RAID 5 (Striped drives with parity), RAID 6 (Striped drives with double parity) or RAID 10 (Mirrored striped drives).
